French first lady is hiring a personal advisor

The French new first lady, Cécilia Sarkozy, is taking up a personal diplomacy advisor Nicolas de La Grandville, to prepare her into the role of the nation's first lady. Her current task will concentrate on feminine issues such as children, women, human right, French language and social issues.

This kind of suprise me as I thought she declared that she has not keen on taking the first lady's role. I think she has no choice eh?

I don't consider her a "powerful woman" at all...quite the opposite, actually.

Also, are those issues "feminine issues"? I think those are all issues that both genders are concerned with. :0l

  4. As a first lady of France she does have some power, no?

This is what I read in the articles, they say she will take care of the feminine issues. Aren't most of the first ladies in the world usually work on these kind of issues?

Well, even if the president's wives typically work on such issues, it doesn't make these issues "feminine" issues.

Honestly, it sounds like a typically French (read "sexist") reference...was this article from a French publication? I wouldn't be surprised if it were...

As for the power, I feel its her husband that has the power. She didn't even vote, for crying out loud. She's simply not an empowered woman...

  6. It was from a Malaysian newspaper. They have probably used the wrong word. However for me, these are "soft" issues compared to those like war, nuclear, economy...
